Mathematics-Volume

Volume is the quantity of 3 - dimensional space, enclosed by closed boundary, often expressed in SI derived units, cubic metre. In international system of units ( SI  unts ), unit of volume is cubic metre ( m3 ). In metric system 1 Litre  = ( 10 cm )3 = 1000 cubic centimetre.
1 cubic metre = 1000 Litres

Volume Formulas ::

cube                                 = a3 , a is length of any side.

cylinder                             = ∏r2h , r = radius, h = height

Prism                                = Bh, B = area of base, h = height

Rectangular Prism              = lbh, l = length, b = width, h = height

Sphere                              = 4/3 ∏ r3, r = radius of sphere

Ellipsoid                            = 4/3 ∏ abc ; a, b, c = semi axes of ellipsoid

Pyramid                            = 1/3 Bh ; B = area of base, h = height

Cone                                 = 1/3 ∏ r2h; r = radius of circle at base, h = distance from base to top or height

Tetrahedron                       = (1.414/12) a3;  a = edge length

What is the main difference between Capacity and Volume ??

    Volume refers to the space taken up by an object itself.  Volume measured in Cubic Units.
    Capacity refers to the amount of liquid or other fluid substance, a container can hold.
